Toastmasters Chapter Logo by Juan Roberts
Local Antelope Valley Toastmasters chapter needed a bit of branding, so I created this piece overnight. Interesting name indeed. I like challenges. Of the 7 designs created this was the winner.
My friend, Vivian Komori, called one evening with a simple notion of me putting together a few fonts to create, "just a little more than regular text," as she put it.
I immediately began to do thumbnails on my sketchpad (yes, I still do old school thumbnails). As I worked on two other projects, I quickly discovered that the two main components of their chapter name shared the same first letter. Aha!
The Process
Then I delved into font selection and found a cool script creation that sparked other ideas. I had to step away for dinner, but upon returning, I saw very clearly a tiny flourish at the bottom of the 'B.' I extended it and that revealed that a similar extension could be created up top. These new appendages served as perches for the name to be anchored.
I love the black, red and white combination, as far as I was concerned, the logo was done. Vivi's email confirmed my thinking.
I love this stuff.
